PRESIDENTS YEARLY REPORT 2008
WOW...What can I say? Although I say this every year, 2008 was yet again another very impressive year for our club. We have had a lot of fun and achieved a huge amount this season. Each season would not be made possible without the help of some very dedicated people. On this note I would like to thank all of our committee. It is you guys that makes this club what it is today. When our club first started we were the club from far north, the unknown club. We have now grown so much in not only members, but in spirit and accomplishment. And it’s thanks to the dedicated people with a passion for soccer that have got us where we are today.
To every single coach and manager, thank you. It is the effort you put in each week that has made our club strive and become successful. We are a competitive club in terms of competition ladders and your efforts can be shown by these fantastic results.
Although it is near impossible for me to sit down and actually watch each and every player throughout the season, those I did watch, I completely enjoyed. It is great to see everyone out there wearing our club colours and respecting the name on the front of your jersey. The fair play and attitude towards the game we love was great to see. On that note a thanks has to also be given to the parents of our juniors for the support you gave your kids, their team and their club. It has really shown this season that we are “The Family Club”.
The R.S.L and their support staff have done exactly that...Supported us greatly this season and our season would not be so successful without the support of you. Huge thanks for the fields and the access to club facilities when needed. Thanks to the youth club which is in association with the R.S.L. These guys work very hard to help out our junior teams and it is great to see the effort they put in.
If I had the chance to write every sponsor in this report and what they have done for us I would, but we would need a whole magazine just on you guys. It’s our sponsors that donate so generously to the growth and development of our teams and club. Without your efforts we would not be what we are today. So thank you for everything and I hope you enjoyed being involved with our club and come back next year.
Our young cadets this season showed excellence on and off the field in terms of professionalism and manner. Cadet’s is a great way to start a career in Refereeing and if you enjoy it enough you CAN make a career out of it. And on that note I would like to congratulate my son Cameron who has been selected as a referee for state titles in October. Well done. This shows that juniors can achieve as much as seniors, and gives our cadets something to aim for.
On a Sunday our BBQ becomes very popular and is great to see all the players helping out cooking. We can do with some more help, not only on the BBQ next season but in the canteen and on the committee. This club is run by volunteers who have a passion for what they do and I would love to see more people have this same passion we share. On that note I want to make special mention to our canteen manager Wendy who is at the fields every Saturday and Sunday before everyone doing prep in the canteen to ensure we have a canteen to open. To Julie our ground controller, whose work starts on a Friday night in getting all the paper work ready and to Barb, your efforts in keeping our club up to date with time and ground changes is excellent. We had a lot of changes due to weather this year and you have kept it very organised. Thank you to you all.
We had an activity night this season for players and families with a BBQ and jumping castle and it was a success. We hope we can have a few more next season.
Now on a very proud note, Congrats goes to all the teams who made semi finals this season. You all worked hard to get there and I hope you soaked up the experience and atmosphere of finals football. To the Under 12s who were league champions and Grand final winners, top effort. Our 18s, WAA1s and WAA4s, who took out league champions, you have done a great job. To our 16s, 18s, 35s, and WAA4s who are yet to play in their grand finals, I wish you all the luck and support. You have already done us proud and we hope you can take the finals out.
Our WAA1s were minor premiers this season and worked hard to secure a spot in Premiere league next season. We wish them well and it is great to see we will have both our men’s and women’s in Premiere League. On that note I would like to thank Robyn Ellery for her efforts in coaching this team and congratulate all the players in the team. To Luke Roger’s who has been our Premier League men’s coach the past four season’s. Thank you for everything you have done with our club. It has not been unnoticed. It will be sad to see you go but we wish you all the best for your future.
A special well done has to go to our under 12s keeper Ashley Sweetnam. This year she has achieved a great deal and it is great to see our club bringing through some excellent talent. Ashley has been selected into Hunter sports High next year, as well as going to the National School Girls Soccer titles in which her NSW team came 2nd. Top effort! All the best for branch Ashley! And to Taylor Crawford who went to play Lightening this season, Great effort.
To rap this up, anyone I have missed I am honestly sorry. But I wish I had the time to thank every single person. I wish everyone the best for the off season and can’t wait to welcome you all back next year and to hopefully meet a lot of new faces.
